Our Story

At Adaptive Adventures, we enable outdoor urban-based experiences for people that require additional support, due to a variety of barriers such as physical, cognitive, or sensory challenges, through a combination of the right people, experience, and adaptive equipment.

We facilitate adventures for anyone with any ability.

Spend some time hiking, paddling, cycling, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. Adaptive Adventures offers time-based trips that enable all people regardless of ability to participate in outdoor activities. This program is funded by various sources with all contributions staying within our local communities. This program is a great way to start off your pursuit for adaptive recreation!

CRIS is a pioneer in adaptive recreation and offers programs tailored to the needs of participants – from the beginner explorer to the seasoned wilderness enthusiast, CRIS has an opportunity for you!

Our Mandate

CRIS Adaptive Adventures consists of a group of outdoor enthusiasts with years of experience making outdoor dreams reality.

Since the beginning of CRIS, a non-profit society, it has been our mission to provide relief to youth and adults who face barriers to getting outdoors by developing and implementing outdoor recreation programs that promote independence, assist with integration and inclusion, reduce isolation and improve mental and physical well-being. Adaptive Adventures is our charitable purpose for urban-based outdoor recreation.

Our purpose is to promote inclusion within society as well as improve overall well-being and quality of life for any person with a disability.

Where To?

Our Adaptive Adventure trips primarily take place in the beautiful Okanagan Valley.

Our backyard has a lot to offer. That said, if your dreams are bigger, do talk to us. Through our Accessible Wilderness Expedition program we will partner with other organizations, where need be, or work with you to build your dream trip.

We live in a 4 seasons playground, where the season at hand plays a big part in where we go, what travel and how that can be accomplished. Generally most people prefer the warmer seasons for most of their adventures, but let us know what’s in your bucket list!
